THE NATIONAL GETTING OLDER POLICY.

The National Policy on Aging has their root in the Second Globe Assembly around the ageing which adopted it is main result document, ' a Personal Declaration and Madrid International Plan of Action, 2002; This dedicated governments to fulfill the challenges of populace and offered the world plan makers having a set of 117 concrete advice covering 3 main top priority directions which included, Older folks and creation, Maintaining health and well-being in to old age and Ensuring enabling and supportive environments for the elderly
Mount recognized the value of placing ageing in the context of strategies for removal of low income, as well as initiatives to achieve full participation of developing countries in the world economy. Furthermore, the other World Assembly promoted a fresh recognition that ageing had not been simply a problem of sociable security and welfare yet of overall development and economic plan.
Indeed, this gave Tanzania a challenge to formulate a policy on the ageing called " The National Policy on Ageing issued out in September 2003вЂќ
As explained earlier, this kind of policy was formulated following the presence of an increase in the number of people in developing countries particularly Tanzania, thus failure to look after old peoples' health, diet and other simple services essential for human life. In this case strategies were required to grant successful services delivery (accommodate and reflect the needs from the elderly in 21st century.
Basing on the Usa Organization (UN) report (1999), it was believed an existence of two hundred million people aged 6 decades and previously mentioned in 1975 that number elevated to 350 million persons and likely to reach 625 million people by 2006. It was as well expected that by the year 2050 the number of old persons will have increased from the present 38 to 212 thousands in the Africa alone.
The policy revisits the state of old people because they face many problems that include poverty, in adequate overall health services, pensions and insufficient participations in important decisions which in turn influencing national advancement.
The Countrywide ageing coverage is a useful guide to the Ministry of Labor, Junior Development and Sports in planning, setup and evaluation of providers delivery to older people.
TARGETS OF THE POLICY
The National ageing insurance plan aim many other things to meet diverse objectives as shown below:
вЂў The major targets of this policy among others are; to ensure that seniors are identified provided with basic services and accorded a chance to fully take part in the daily life of the community.
вЂў Additionally, it aims to make a conducive environment for the provision of basic in order to the old persons.
вЂў To allocate resource for older householder's income technology activities and the welfare.
вЂў To start and support programs that gives people with opportunity to participate in economic development initiatives.
вЂў To create a conducive environment for the provision of basic companies to the seniors.
вЂў To arrange strategies and programs intended for elimination of negative frame of mind and age discrimination.
вЂў It also aims to enact regulations that helps bring about and helps to protect the well being of old people.
LEGAL FRAME WORK PROCESS
The National ageing policy was counterchecked by the human privileges as stipulated in the Tanzanians constitutions of 1977 as amended in 1984 and 1995 correspondingly. Moreover the policy provides taken into consideration the UN statement Act No . 46 of 1991.
